STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE
Standards of ExcellenceWhat does that Mean to a Client/Candidate/Recruiter?
In recruiting at LH&A, our job is to source the best possible candidates who match our clients’ hiring needs. Our clients tend to have tight specs. We work very hard to recruit the best talent in terms of industry experience, core competencies, cultural fit and salary expectations.
Since we specialize in communications and marketing, we expect our candidates to excel in these areas. Sadly, we are seeing sloppy resumes, spelling and punctuation errors and laissez-faire attitudes from many candidates.
When I point out that there are errors, some candidates get mad at me and withdraw. That is their choice. Do I make mistakes? I try not to and work diligently to correct my errors. Each mistake equates a learning opportunity. If I present candidates with mistakes on their resumes, then I lose credibility with my clients.  I don’t have a second chance to make a first impression.  Neither do candidates.
Please take the time to proof your work, word by word. Walk away from your credentials and come back with fresh eyes. Print out your materials. Take a pen and review each word. Take special care with apostrophes. There is no such thing as Bachelors in Arts. That means that there are many unmarried men! Correct spelling should be: Bachelor of Arts or B.A. in Arts.
I hope this helps.
