01-30-2017: New Job, Chinese New Year & Personal Comments from Lynn
It is with mixed emotions that I post today’s e-jobs updates. We are thrilled to announce a new opening for a Sr Mk Specialist/Proposals for arenowned engineering-architectural-construction company in the SW suburbs of Chicago.
We are also delighted to extend a Happy New Year to all of our friends in the Chinese community. Our connections to the Chinese students and alumni in Chicago run deep. Many of these grad students and new grads from DePaul have calledLH&A home. We cherish our friendships and working relationships together.
The news about refusing entry to refugees and permanent residents to the US this past weekend was shocking, frightening and disappointing. I am a permanent resident of the United States. My parents immigrated to Canada in 1951 from the Middle East. My mother was born in Cairo, Egypt; my father from Damascus, Syria. They were refused entry to the US because my father was born in Syria.
They created new lives in a democratic society, welcoming and embracing of the diversity that so enriched Canada. When it was my turn to create a new life for myself, the options were greater in the “States”.
Now it is my turn to help a new generation of immigrants who call America home. I have already made a donation to help re-settle a Syrian family in Chicago. I shall make another donation in honor of the next placement through LH&A. Help us to make this a reality.
