Director/Senior Manager of Marketing: Events and Coaching

Chicago information marketing company seeks Director/Senior Manager of Marketing: Events and Coaching. Located near O’Hare airport. Candidate will lead multi-disciplinary team to plan and execute business events for entrepreneurs and business owners. Requires travel and some weekend work. Candidate is a “marketer” first with experience in event planning. Must understand the strategy behind events and their role within the marketing mix. Must have superb interpersonal and client relationship skills to coach members.

-Bachelor’s Degree required.
-Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in marketing and meeting/event management
-Ideal candidate has core competencies in marketing, with concentration in staging events and marketing them. This is a hybrid role. It is not just an event planning position.
-Event experience can include conferences, trade shows, continuing education, training, etc. Events are part of the marketing mix, not just parties or special events.
-Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) highly desired.
-Must have excellent organizational communication, problem-solving, project management, content strategy and budget management skills.
-Association or Association Management Company experience very helpful.
-Experience in contract negotiations.
-Knowledge of direct response marketing, survey writing, and analytics.
-Familiarity with marketing automation systems.

-Lead team in planning and executing 6 events a year from 150 to 700 attendees
-Develop detailed project plans (program theme/agenda, marketing plan development/execution, speaker/celebrity selection/management, networking events, sponsor exhibit management)
-Coaching Groups:
 Manage three coaching groups. Set up 9 annual meetings (3 meetings each for 3  coaching groups). Create updated directories, manage flow of contracts, answerparticipants’ questions. Provide leadership, oversight, process control, budgeting, marketing of coaching groups. Be primary liaison to top 100 elite members whoparticipate in coaching events.

  • Oversee all aspects of P+L (revenue and expenses).
  • Manage pre, post, and on-site meeting logistics.
  • Create/execute marketing plan.
  • Develop materials and signage.
  • Conduct all on-site activities.
  • Ensure exceptional attendee satisfaction.
  • Communicate with speakers and attendees.
  • Conduct follow-up satisfaction surveys.
  • Manage expenses and invoices tied to pre-approved budget.
  • Coach and mentor top 100 most elite members.
  • Manage changing priorities.
