Transitioning From Academia to Industry: Workshops for PhDs

Many postdocs are turning to “industry” for new career paths. However, they are often unfamiliar with the corporate world. They have no business experience, lack the knowledge to fully engage in a job search, struggle to communicate in any language other than science, and lack exposure to corporations, industry associations, professional associations, recruiters, etc.

Lynn Hazan & Associates developed this course to train the next generation of talent. These interactive presentations are specifically crafted to help candidates reposition themselves in the job market. This includes seminars on how to optimize candidates’ LinkedIn profiles, improve resumes, tips on successful interviews and positioning themselves as candidates of choice, and much more.

LH&A has presented at a variety of universities and organizations, including Women in Bio, CHIentist, University of California-Irvine, American Medical Writers Assn (AMWA), University of Maryland-Baltimore, Postdoc Assn at Northwestern, etc.

“Lynn led an amazing workshop for the mentorship group at Women In Bio (WIB) – Chicago chapter. The talk was focused on: How to Work with a Recruiter, Self-Brand as the Candidate of Choice, Resume Tips, Interview for a Job Offer, Storytelling as a Leadership Tool, Art of Negotiation, Hiring Trends, and Social Media. It was an extremely thorough workshop that all participants enjoyed. The updated insights and tips were the most valuable advice. We are extremely grateful to Lynn for her energy and dedication. We recommend her 100%.” – Gianina Varea – Pyxis Oncology – Senior Manager, Science and Operations
